The Lake Country Library will host a climate cafe this coming Saturday!
Saturday, April 27, 1:30-3 p.m at Lake Country Library @orllakecountrylibrary
Climate Cafë
Welcome to Lake Country’s Climate Café! Grab your favourite mug, and let's brew up some warmth together as we dive into conversations about our shared journey through climate awareness. Share some tea, and enjoy a treat as we create a space where discussions about our planet can be as soothing as a good cuppa! 🌍☕🌱
The cafe is hosted by @pippadeanveerman
And @alisonbeaumont.art trained by @climate.psychology.alliance @climatepsychologyalliancena to facilitate climate cafés
Please be on time for our Climate Cafe events. It helps everyone fully enjoy the discussions and activities. Please don't join part way through. Thanks for your cooperation!
What is a Climate Café:
Climate Cafés are informal spaces where people can talk about their feelings and worries regarding climate change. By talking openly, learning together, and finding ways to cope. Many people find them inspiring and positive spaces to connect with others and empower each other to make a positive impact on the planet.
Disclaimer: These sessions are not a substitute for professional therapy or mental health treatment. While Climate Cafes provide a supportive environment for discussing emotions related to climate change, they are not a therapeutic or counselling service. If you are experiencing significant distress, anxiety, or mental health concerns, we strongly encourage you to seek assistance from a licensed mental health professional
From @oyamacommunityclub "We are pleased to invite Okanagan Artists to reimagine the vintage chairs that are being retired at our hall. Artists take a chair and reimagine it with their art. The finished chairs will be available for auction on Oyama Fun Day June 2nd, 2024. Artists set the reserve price for each chair (the minimum for the item to sell) and 100% of the proceeds go to the artist who created the chair.
Our hope is that this is an opportunity to raise awareness of local artists in the Okanagan and have folks have the opportunity to take a piece of Oyama history home with your artwork."
