Using the Augle App viewers were able to access an animated version of a static image with a soundtrack. There were 7 teams of 3 artists that collaborated to create new works.

Carry Me. Lay Me Down. was a collaboration with Artists Joanne Gervais & Shauna Oddleifsen, Alison was the featured Musician in this work. As with many of Alison’s pieces, her inspiration started with a poem (see below).

You can see the animated version of the image (right) and listen to the soundtrack below, download the Augle App for more details on how to access the works in-person:

Carry Me. Lay Me Down.

Alison Beaumont

Carry me gently,

Take me to see the unseen,

Entwined in birdsong,

Immersed in being, belonging.

Lay me down gently,

Forever changed, in the now,

Complicit in cooperation,

I surrender to the land,

Joyous unity, accord.

The sound for the animation tells the story of ecological sorrow, with birdsong, bees buzzing, intertwined with ethereal sounds. Layered in meaning there are ties to the inspiration for the soundscape the poem below.
