The Suite

“Sweet Oyama” is a one bedroom suite with a fresh look, air conditioning and a fantastic base to enjoy your stay in the Okanagan from. This page has all you need to know about the suite, check out our locals guide to eating, drinking, exploring and shopping.

Your Hosts

Alison, Colin & Eddie are so happy that you can join us in Oyama. We have lived in this house since 2010 and over the past 11 years the house has undergone a complete transformation. Originally built in 1974 this house had wallpaper everywhere (and not the cool kind like in the bathroom). Colin is a master carpenter and has lovingly renovated and modernized this home. The suite has been a labour of love, adding many of the great features we have in out own home, from the vintage style fridge to the designer wallpaper. You will also see some of Alison’s photographs around the suite, check out her website and art projects here.

House Info

  • There is a spot for your shoes at the door, help us keep those footprints outside

  • There is a water filter jug in the fridge, for drinking water we usually filter first. We are on Oyama Lake water in Summer and Kalamalka in Winter, the water colour can vary depending on the run off from the mountains.

  • We have a septic tank, this means we are mindful of what goes down the drain, NO sanitary products should be flushed please use the paper bags provided in the bathroom. If you need the bin emptying - let us know, we can pop-in while you are out. Also NO oil down the sink, these thinks can clog the tank.

  • For Washing machine detergent use one of the strips in the basket in the bottom drawer next to the fridge. For the Dryer you will also find dryer balls in the same drawer.

  • We recycle and compost. In an effort to reduce our impact on the environment we ask that you join us in recycling and composting. There is a composting bin on the counter for food scraps (no meat), if this gets full there are additional bags under the sink. We recycle all that we can, not sure if something is recyclable? pop it in the recycle bin and we will figure that out. If you need your bins emptying during your stay, just let us know and we are happy to pop in while you are out to change them or shoot us a text and drop them outside your front door.

  • The TV is a smart TV with built in Alexa, there are guest accounts to use for Netflix and Amazon.

  • Quiet times are 10pm to 6am
